                       MESSAGE FROM

                     Fil-Am President- Ruby R. Ioapo

Greetings to our friends, families and loved ones! As we begin the New Year,
this is a good time to reflect on what we have accomplished thus far and look
forward with hope and faith of what next two years will bring. I am honored
and humbled once again for the trust and confidence that you have bestowed
upon me, to lead our community as your President for the next two years. I
would like to thank my friends and families for their support, and I am deeply
grateful for believing in me, and I hope and pray that I will be able to fulfill your
expectation to move this community forward.

I each passing day, we will continue to uphold our motto “UNITY and
FRIENDSHIP”, and will find ways to continue to promote our rich culture and
heritage to our and others in the community.  We will work diligently to go out
there and make a difference not only in the Filipino – American Community,
but in our City of Colorado Springs. There is so much to do a way of giving
back to the community and help those who are less fortunate than we are.  We
have formed a Volunteer Task Committee and have started to dour duties as
citizen of this great city.  Please come and join us and be part of this noble
cause.

The success and prosperity of our community is credited entirely to the men
and women who have dedicated their efforts in making this community what it
is today.  To the officers, advisors, committee members of the past year,
congratulations on a job well done!

To the newly elected officers, I’m honored to have all of you on board, to the
advisors and committee members; I look forward to working with all of you.
These men and women bring to this organization a tremendous experience,
passion and commitment to accomplish our mission, and as team, we will not
let you down. No task is too difficult as long as we work together to reach a
common goal.  As I mentioned during the election, the Filipino American
Community of Southern Colorado is just a name.  This is everyone’s
community: from north, south, east and west, we are one community and we
need to support each other.

2008 has been a challenging and difficult year in our country economically,
and has affected our community as well.  I am sure 209 will have his own
challenges and difficulties, but one thing is clear, God is in control. Our faith
and trust in God will enable us to meet and face these challenges and resolve.

In closing, from my family to yours, I wish all a very blessed and prosperous
new year, and I look forward to the next two years with optimism, knowing
that with your help and support, our community will continue to thrive and
prosper.  May God continue to bless the Filipino-American Community of
Southern Colorado.

Yours Truly,

Ruby R. Ioapo
